We all know the story and the truth; most of the media figure heads are overwhelmingly liberal progressives (90%). They don't even hide it any more. The reason the media has been given "freedom and protection of the press" was so that the media could watch and report on events in government without retaliation: Not so they could judge government, that is the job of the people. The media is supposed to give the facts in an unbiased way (that is journalism) then let the people decide for themselves based on those unbiased facts. (Also known as the TRUTH.) The mainstream media has determined that you the people are too stupid to interpret the facts so they think they need to do it for you. Because they now know better.
